Green Medal Sustainability Award
Introduced in 2017, the Green Medal Sustainability Award recognizes the accomplishments of individuals or allied organizations working to address wise and respectful use of the land. Self-nominations are welcome.
Our Honoree for the 2018 GWA Green Medal is Pamela Berstler, who was recently named Executive Director of Pacific Horticulture Society, an organization dedicated to expanding environmental and horticultural literacy for 50 years.
Pamela also manages G3, Green Gardens Group, an EPA WaterSense Partner and Professional Certifying Organization that conducts outreach and education on the Watershed Approach to landscaping for homeowners and professionals throughout the U.S. and Canada. She has written and published six “Watershed Approach to Landscape” guidebooks for various California agencies, the foundation of their landscape standards.
Since 2004, G3 has conducted thousands of one-on-one technical sessions to help property owners reduce landscape water demand and eliminate runoff and 500 workshops on sustainable landscape transformation. In 2017, she created the biennial Urban Soil Summit in Los Angeles.
Earlier, as owner of an award-winning residential design/build firm, Flower to the People, she co-hosted the Discovery Channel’s, Rally ‘Round the House, during which she installed 50 gardens in 52 weeks.
A former President of APLD California Chapter, Pamela was also awarded the APLD 2016 National Leadership in Sustainability Award.
