So, You Want to Start a Podcast?
Thursday, August 16 | 9:45AM - 10:45AM
Podcasts are a fast growing means of communication, especially for 25 to 45 year olds. Unlike video, people can listen to podcasts while driving, cooking, or gardening. But is podcast production for everyone? Ellen and C.L. started their podcast, Plantrama, in the winter of 2017 and they currently average over 800 downloads per episode. They will describe the basics of recording equipment, editing software, and production; dispel some common myths; and explain options for long distance recording, web hosting, and promotion. They will also share mistakes they made. Is podcasting for you? Come to this presentation and find out!
C.L. Fornari is the author of seven books and numerous articles. She’s currently the host of GardenLine, on WXTK and co-host of the Plantrama podcast. CL speaks to horticultural trade shows, gardening groups and public gatherings, and she runs a consultation service and writes for Hyannis Country Garden, an independent garden center. Her not-so-secret mission is to get horticulture back into pop culture…in the meantime she cultivates plants at Poison Ivy Acres on Cape Cod, blogs at www.GardenLady.com, and drops podcasts at http://www.plantrama.com/.
Ellen Zachos is the author of seven books, and has a regular foraging column for Edible Santa Fe. A former Broadway performer (cast of Les Miz), Ellen is a Harvard graduate and earned multiple certificates in horticulture and ethnobotany at the New York Botanic Garden. She taught at the NYBG for many years, and worked there as Coordinator of the Gardening Department in Continuing Ed, before moving to Santa Fe. In 2017 Ellen launched her first online foraging course. She blogs at www.backyardforager.com and podcasts http://www.plantrama.com/.Ellen Zachos
