Katie Stagliano began her journey to help end hunger one vegetable garden at a time when she was nine years old after growing a 40 lb cabbage and donating it to a soup kitchen where it helped feed 275 people. Katie began Katie's Krops, a not-for-profit whose mission is to empower youth to start and maintain vegetable gardens and donate the produce to those in need. As of 2018, Katie's Krops has 100 gardens in over 30 states across the United States, all of which are youth run.
Katie Stagliano is the nineteen year-old Founder and Chief Executive Gardener of Katie's Krops. She attends the College of Charleston. She is the author of Katie's Cabbage and has received numerous national and international awards for her work, including being the youngest recipient ever of the Clinton Global Citizen Award for Leadership in Civil Society.
