Conservatory Horticulturist, Longwood Gardens
Karl Gercens III developed his passion for horticulture on a cotton plantation in the Mississippi Delta. His formal education at Mississippi State University and practical experience in Florida and California secured a conservatory horticulturist position at Longwood Gardens. Since 1998 Karl has been involved in the design, installation and maintenance of the world-renown displays under glass. An aggressive travel schedule has allowed Karl to visit thousands of gardens around the world to gather ideas, images and inspiration which he funnels into classes and displays at Longwood or lectures around the globe.
