Story Tour: "Pick Your Own Adventure"
Monday, August 7, 1:00PM - 4:45PM
Draves Arboretum Tour SOLD OUT!
Recently accredited through the ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program, Draves Arboretum was created by arborist Tom Draves and the Morton Arboretum and includes at least 500 tree species, including new Draves discovery ‘Streetkeeper’ Gleditsia. This is the newest arboretum in the U.S. We are excited to report that not only Tom Draves, but Tim Brotzman (plantsman, hybridizer, nurseryman) will be joining us!
Know before you go: This is a "level 4" tour. This is an extensive walking tour with a duration of approximately two hours on some hilly terrain. This is a new arboretum that does not have prepared paths or other amenities. If you depend upon a cane or walker or tire easily, you might be more comfortable on the alternative tour by motor coach (Southtowns Private Gardens Tour). Do not hesitate to let us know if you'd rather change your registration. (No fee is involved but there is limited seating on this tour, so we will need to know in advance).
Southtowns Private Gardens Tour
Some of the great gardens of the region are in the scenic rolling hills of “South Towns” Hamburg, Boston, and Eden. They include “Smug Creek” (the garden of Kathy and Mike Shadrack, international hosta experts and authors), private daylily, hosta, and intensive perennial gardens, and the breakthrough landscape project with the highest LEED standards showing bio-retention, rain garden, recycling and repurposing to the max.
