Feeding AmericaFranklin Park Conservatory
Franklin Park Conservatory offers unique botanical collections, art exhibitions, plant shows, educational and community outreach programs. The Conservatory features an historic Victorian Palm House built in 1895 and 83,000 square feet of glasshouses and classrooms situated in an 88-acre urban park minutes from downtown Columbus. Franklin Park Conservatory’s Growing to Green program is Columbus’ largest organized effort to promote and provide free resources for community gardening. Growing to Green has assisted in the start-up or renovation of more than 140 community gardens, schools gardens, and neighborhood beautification projects throughout the central Ohio area. The Growing to Green program includes a four-week Community Garden Academy, a statewide Community Gardening Conference, horticultural resources and onsite consultation, demonstration gardens, and information on acquiring land and financial resources to start a garden. Master Gardener Program
The Master Gardener program was established to assist Cooperative Extension in reaching the consumer horticulture audience. Master Gardeners are community volunteers trained by county extension agricultural agents. The program provides interested individuals with extensive training in many phases of gardening. In return, participants dedicate volunteer time to teach other home gardeners.
