Writers Workshop
Write Better Today Whether you send out blog posts, deliver feature copy, or want to polish your pitch on your web site, this three-hour interactive workshop will give you tools to improve your writing skills. The workshop will focus on building story structures that capture readers’ attention, strengthening your transitions for clarity and focus, and improving your selfediting proficiency to get powerful results. If you panic at the tyranny of a blank screen or simply need to be reminded of what you already know – and may ignore – join Mary-Kate Mackey for a fun, engaging workshop. Learn three practical techniques you can put to use immediately. You’ll be able to juggle words with more confidence and ease. About the Speaker: Mary-Kate Mackey’s writing workshops have been well received at GWA meetings and symposiums. She is a lively speaker, whose presentations are based on her ten years’ experience as an adjunct professor at the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication. Winner of a GWA Silver Award, Mary-Kate is the co-author of Sunset’s Secret Gardens—153 Ideas from the Pros and contributor to Gardening in the Northwest and the Sunset Western Garden Book. Her one-hundred-plus articles have appeared in national and regional publications, such as Fine Gardening, Horticulture and Sunset. She writes for the Christian Science Monitor’s “Diggin’ It” blog and a monthly column for the Hartley-Botanic Greenhouse U.S. website.
