Post-Symposium Photo Workshop
Tuesday, September 23, 2008 - 7:00a - 7:00p
Join noted garden and landscape photographers Alan Detrick and Ian Adams for a special workshop on digital garden photography. Limited to 24 students, each attendee will receive individual attention during a morning and evening photo shoot. Our lecture will focus on digital basics and digital workflow – from capture to computer. Whether you are in the beginning stages of digital or have been shooting for years, this workshop will help all GWA members improve their understanding and skills for the digital photo environment.

Participation limited to 24 registrants!

What to bring: Digital camera and MANUAL, lenses, plenty of storage, batteries, tripod.

07:00 a.m. Instructional photo shoot in a garden (TBA)
09:00 a.m. Classroom Lecture

1. Digital Basics
   A. Resolution: dpi vs. ppi, camera, monitor, printer, Internet, projector
   B. Bits: 8 vs 16
   C. Color Modes: Grayscale, RGB, Lab, CMYK,
   D. Color Management: RGB, sRGB, Colormatch, Adobe 1998, PhotoPro.
   E. File Formats: JPEGs, TIFFs, RAW, PSD
   
   
2. About Digital Workflow
   A. Image Capture: JPEG or RAW, Exposure, Color Balance
   B. Editing: In Camera, On Computer

1. Digital Processing: Camera Mfg software & Software Companies
2. Image Enhancement: Photoshop & iPhoto
3. Storage: CD, DVD & External Hard Drives
